Using the Redheads (Lighting)
It is important to understand that the redheads are extremely fragile therefore when transporting them they must be carried in the given bag and padding. They should be carried by at least two people and care must be taken not to knock them.
The lights, when turned on, will become extremely hot so they must not be handled in this state. Due to the heat that they give out they must not be covered - this will prevent a fire.
The light that they give off is very bright and to avoid any damage to eyes they must not be looked directly at.
The Redheads must be switched off when not in use to avoid any unnecessary accidents.
The bulbs that are required are very expensive and break easily so care must be taken when handling and replacing them.
Also the cables that are attatcjhed to the Redheads must be taped down to avoid people tripping over them.

College Magazine - Prior News
Front Cover
On the front cover of my magazine i have incorporated a photograph of two students stood behind a grave stone, i have done this because the magazine is aimed at college students so the audience will easily relate to the subjects on the front cover. The tombstone was used because it is the Halloween edition of the magazine and gravestones are closely associated to the holiday.
I have used three main colours for the front page; Blue, orange and white. I have used these because the colours work well together and stand out on the page.
The name of the magazine has been made very large on the page which makes it eye catching and to ensure the name is not forgotten by its audience easily.
Contents Page
For my contents page i have continued the Halloween theme by using a photograph of a row of tombstones for the background image. I have also continued to use the same three main colours from the front page to make a sense of familiarity. I have also used photographs to give more detail about what will be featured in the magazine.

Music Magazine Questionare
In order to decide key factors about the music magazine that I will be designing I have created a questionnaire to give to a selected audience. I had decided to give my questionnaire to students at my college because the magazine that I will be creating will be aimed at people aged 16 - 18.
This is a print-screen of the questions that were presented to students; my results showed that most people's favorite music genre is Rock and liked music such as Muse, Paramore, Linkin Park and The Killers. This information then made me decide to create a Rock music magazine.

My Media Photographs.
These are a selection of the photos that we took when we first used the cameras. We tried finding different angles to use and with different poses and lighting.

We decided to take this photograph of the four of us stood on benches as a way of incorporating our whole bodies in the shot. This was also a perfect opportunity for us to experement with the timer function. The exploitation of people in this photograph creates a befitting frame.
We decided to take this photograph of us sitting on the stairs and looking up because it gives the impression of having little or no power from this angle. The shot also makes the subjects appear smaller than they really are.

We took this photograph as it follows the rule of thirds which gives an image a more professional appearence.
This photograph was captured as a close up, this is because it makes the viewer focus exactly on what is in front of them, consequently atracting attention.Tuesday, 21 September 2010

Niche Markets.
| 30 Seconds To Mars |
| Paramore |
Paramore is a band from Tennessee, America. Their music has been stereotyped as 'Pop Punk' and 'Rock/Alternative'. The band uses their somewhat strange and different image to help their career and promote their music. For example the lead singer Hayley Williams is well known for having unnaturally coloured hair such as orange, she also tends to dress in brightly coloured skinny jeans and hi-top trainers, thus reflecting the type of music she creates. The males of the band wear dark colours and studded belts and have long hair - this can be seen as a Punk or Rock image.
A similar band to Paramore is 30 Seconds To Mars, the band are also from America and have the stereotypes 'Alternative Progressive Rock' and 'EMO'. The band appeal to their target audience by having vibrantly coloured hair and unique clothing styles like leather studded jackets and large sunglasses. This makes the target audience feel like they have the same beliefs and similarities to the band and consequently more albums are sold.
A band that is not similar to Paramore nor 30 Seconds To Mars is 3OH!3. 3OH!3 are an American band and are an electro-pop duo. The pair have a completely different style when compared to the likes of Paramore and 30 Seconds to Mars. The two men usually wear on trend clothing that lack in originality. This could include straight leg jeans, plain tops and leather jackets.

Image research
Hayley Williams
Hayley is usually represented in a fun-loving and care free manner, which highlights her youth and excitement towards being in the band. She also shows her youth by the way she dyes her hair in many different and unusual colours and when she takes foolish photographs for things such as Magazines and Album covers. Paramore's music style is rock and alternative which is also representative of Hayley's image, this is clear because she does not have ordinary coloured hair and has clothes that make her stand out from the ordinary people, thus showing her uniqueness and originality.

Here Hayley is attending various different awards ceremonies and is portrayed as a person who cares greatly for appearances, however this is contrasting to how her usual image indicates. I know this because she is generally photographed in jeans and a T-shirt.

Analysis of a Music Magazine.
The music magazine that I have chosen to analyse is 'Rolling Stone'. It is a rock magazine, ergo the target audience is twenty to forty year old males with a general interest in rock music.
The title of the magazine is partially covered by the image of the band on the front; this shows that the magazine is very well known and therefore does not need to be fully exposed.
Yellow, red and gray are the three main colours on the magazine and they compose the headline of the magazine. These colours have been applied because they are extremely bright and vibrant and therefore will allure its potential audience with ease. The colours are incredibly bold which suggests that the magazine its self will be very loud and energetic.
The image comprising the front cover of this issue takes up the whole page, this is because the photograph is of a highly recognised and famous band that has a large fan base which in turn will encourage these fans to become customers of the magazine.
