My Media Photographs.

These are a selection of the photos that we took when we first used the cameras. We tried finding different angles to use and with different poses and lighting.

We decided to take this photograph of the four of us stood on benches as a way of incorporating our whole bodies in the shot. This was also a perfect opportunity for us to experement with the timer function. The exploitation of people in this photograph creates a befitting frame.

We decided to take this photograph of us sitting on the stairs and looking up because it gives the impression of having little or no power from this angle. The shot also makes the subjects appear smaller than they really are.

This photograph was taken with the sun shining at the lens to create a happy and relaxed effect, hovever the angle (directing upwards) gives the impression that the three subjects have some sort of power and makes them appear larger than they actually are. One of the subjects have had part of her face cut from the photograph which creates a sense of mystery.

We took this photograph as it follows the rule of thirds which gives an image a more professional appearence.
This photograph was captured as a close up, this is because it makes the viewer focus exactly on what is in front of them, consequently atracting attention.

Collage

These are some of the magazines that I looked at when i was researching what to include in my music magazine. I have grouped together a selection of popular Rock magazines, as you can see they vary in a lot of ways such as house styles, main images and magazine content yet they are all similar in the way that they all have three main colours, a main image, a kicker and a large magazine title.

Niche Markets.

30 Seconds To Mars

Paramore

Paramore is a band from Tennessee, America. Their music has been stereotyped as 'Pop Punk' and 'Rock/Alternative'. The band uses their somewhat strange and different image to help their career and promote their music. For example the lead singer Hayley Williams is well known for having unnaturally coloured hair such as orange, she also tends to dress in brightly coloured skinny jeans and hi-top trainers, thus reflecting the type of music she creates. The males of the band wear dark colours and studded belts and have long hair - this can be seen as a Punk or Rock image.
A similar band to Paramore is 30 Seconds To Mars, the band are also from America and have the stereotypes 'Alternative Progressive Rock' and 'EMO'. The band appeal to their target audience by having vibrantly coloured hair and unique clothing styles like leather studded jackets and large sunglasses. This makes the target audience feel like they have the same beliefs and similarities to the band and consequently more albums are sold.
A band that is not similar to Paramore nor 30 Seconds To Mars is 3OH!3. 3OH!3 are an American band and are an electro-pop duo. The pair have a completely different style when compared to the likes of Paramore and 30 Seconds to Mars. The two men usually wear on trend clothing that lack in originality. This could include straight leg jeans, plain tops and leather jackets.

Image research

Hayley Williams

The research I will carry out will be about Hayley Nichole Williams; Hayley was born on the 27th December 1988 and by the age of 16 she and  band members Josh Farro, Jeremy Davis,  Zac Farro had formed the now popular rock band 'Paramore'. The band have released three albums and as a result have on seventeen awards for their hard work and dedication.

Hayley is usually represented in a fun-loving and care free manner, which highlights her youth and excitement towards being in the band. She also shows her youth by the way she dyes her hair in many different and unusual colours and when she takes foolish photographs for things such as Magazines and Album covers. Paramore's music style is rock and alternative which is also representative of Hayley's image, this is clear because she does not have ordinary coloured hair and has clothes that make her stand out from the ordinary people, thus showing her uniqueness and originality.

Here Hayley is attending various different awards ceremonies and is portrayed as a person who cares greatly for appearances, however this is contrasting to how her usual image indicates. I know this because she is generally photographed in jeans and a T-shirt.

Analysis of a Music Magazine.

The music magazine that I have chosen to analyse is 'Rolling Stone'. It is a rock magazine, ergo the target audience is twenty to forty year old males with a general interest in rock music.
The title of the magazine is partially covered by the image of the band on the front; this shows that the magazine is very well known and therefore does not need to be fully exposed.
Yellow, red and gray are the three main colours on the magazine and they compose the headline of the magazine. These colours have been applied because they are extremely bright and vibrant and therefore will allure its potential audience with ease. The colours are incredibly bold which suggests that the magazine its self will be very loud and energetic.
The image comprising the front cover of this issue takes up the whole page, this is because the photograph is of a highly recognised and famous band that has a large fan base which in turn will encourage these fans to become customers of the magazine.
