Web 3.0 is the next generation of the web, experts say that this browser will act as a dort of personal assistant, it will be able to analyse a complex sentence and bring up exactly what is needed.

Spooks mini-essay; Ethnicity

How is ethnicity represented in the Spooks extract?

Spooks is a TV drama series about a group of MI5 officers.
Throughout this episode there is many techniques used to represent ethnicity.
When the Iraqi woman is first introduced into the scene no sympathy is given because she comes across as a stereotypical terrorist with no compassion for the man or the situation that her superiors have put the female spy in. This however slowly begins to change as the woman tells the spies about how the US and British troops have gone to Iraq and killed her whole family. This makes the viewer sympathise more with the woman because in her head she has a valid reason why she is involved in the crimes and she is not catagorised in the typical ethnic stereotype of terrorist.

Magazine History Research.

NME
NME or New Musical Magazine is a British music magazine that has been on sale weekly since the 7th of March 1952.It was the first to include a singles chart in the November of 1952.
The magazine has had to adapt frequently over time to suit the needs of it's audience. At first the magazine started off as a pop music magazine, however in the 60's bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones began to arise and were often featured on the front cover of NME magazine. During this time of 'psychedelia' some sections of pop were now to be known as Rock music. NME saw the new demand for the music genre and thus began to cater for it's audience.
By the early 1970's, rock music was adapting frequently and becoming fast pased, NME was failing to adapt with it and was threfore quickly losing readers. In 1972 the magazine was under serious threat of closure when sales had plummeted to only 60,000.

House Style

The house style of a magazine is the three main colours that are used throughout.
I had debated a lot about what colours i would use but eventually I decided to use
Pink - Vibrant colour which will attract attention to the magazine when on display amongst others.
Navy Blue - Professional looking colour which will show that this is a serious magazine.
Yellow - This is a very soft colour and easy on the eye.

The pink

The Yellow

The Navy Blue

Front Cover

Contents Page

Double page spread

This is my music magazine, it consists of a front page, contents page and a double page spread which includes an article about a band. My magazine has three main colours which are pink, blue and yellow; I have chosen these colours because they are bright and will therefore attract the attention of the reader.
I did some research for the project in the form of looking on the internet at other music magazines to see what I needed to include in mine. With this information I had decided that my magazine needed to include...
- A main image for each page
- Three main colours to use throughout the magazine
- A kicker
- A selling line
- A headline
- A barcode
- A price and date.

Photo shoot for my Music Magazine.

These are some of the photographs we took in college that we could use for our music magazines.

This photograph was taken in front of a plain blue back drop to make it easier to edit when it comes to using it for my music magazine. It consists of four people looking directly at the camera, looking as if they are having a good time, this is to create the illusion of a band. The photograph has been edited in photoshop to make the colours brighter
which makes the photograph overall more attractive.

This photograph was taken with the aid of the redhead lights, over the top of one light we placed a pink gel and over the other we placed a green gel, this was done in an experimental way, to see what effect we could create, we concluded that the shadows made were pink and green and that the sides of the subject's face were illuminated in the same colours, giving a peaceful look.

I took this photograph to show the equipment being used, as proof that all the work was done by us.

These are some photographs that I had taken individually at home.

This photo was taken in front of a plain background, we made sure to look as though we belonged in a Band, to do this we dressed more flamboyant and had messy looking hair. Once the photograph was taken I edited it by using ColourSync Utility.

This is one of the more artistic photographs that I had taken, I made sure that the face is half blocked by the fret board of a guitar, this shows to the readers that the photograph has been musically influenced.

This photo was taken in front of a plain background to make it easier to edit and crop later in the process.

This image has, again, been taken in front of a plain background. It includes a guitar which would attract a Rock preferred audience. The instrument is important because it helps to relate to the target audience because many Rock lovers aspire to play the Guitar.
The subject is looking straight into the lens of the camera with an intense stare, this will attract the attention of the audience because it will seem as though eye contact is being made with the subject thus involving them in the magazine.
This photograph then went on to be edited in photoshop, cropped and used as my main image for the front cover of my magazine.
